Successful Family Learning Showcase celebrates work across South Lanarkshire
Community Learning and Home School Partnership recently hosted a highly successful Family Learning Showcase, in the Banqueting Hall which was attended by 97 colleagues from Early Years, Primary, Secondary and the Community Sectors.
The programme provided a mix of strategic and practical examples of Family Learning theory and initiatives to help inspire colleagues with the potential impacts for families, children and young people.
Education Scotland provided an overview of the National perspective; Dr Gary Clapton from Edinburgh University reinforced the need to think ‘Where’s Dad?’ and look at parents/families meaning more than just mum. There were four examples of good practice from community; primary and secondary sectors from James Aiton PS's Cross Curricular Cooks; Larkhall Academy's Positive Partnerships- Positive Transitions; The Promoting Roles of Father Figures (PROFF) and ESOL Families project with South Lanarkshire Library Service provided an insight into what partners can offer to support the agenda.
Feedback from the event was very positive with almost all attendees citing something that they would take back to their establishments.
